Myrtle rust is trying to take hold of our forest and we need everyone to do their best to prevent it.

Unleash your creativity and join the Protectors of Papatūānuku creative challenge, aimed at raising awareness about the critical need to protect our forests from the devastating impact of myrtle rust.
Not only will you have the opportunity to win fantastic prizes from our $2,000 prize pool, but your artwork could also be displayed on billboards throughout the region, spreading your message (and artisitc talent!) far and wide.

What is myrtle rust?

Myrtle rust, a fungal disease, poses a significant threat to our beloved myrtle family plants, including the iconic pōhutukawa, mānuka, rātā, and other cherished garden species like bottlebrush and lilly pilly. Plants in the myrtle family, are not only beautiful but also provide essential habitats for many creatures. They are an important part of our unique environment!
