Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital

Bringing together mātauranga Māori, industry, science, education and government to lead collaborative action towards biosecurity excellence — protecting what we love about our region from pests and diseases.

What TMBC Delivers

Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital (TMBC) is an Incorporated Society on a mission to shift how New Zealanders think about biosecurity, its connection to everyday life, and the role we can all play in protecting it.

We work in partnership with mana whenua and our wider community, building collaboration across iwi, hapū, community organisations, industry, business, science, mātauranga Māori, and local and central government to achieve biosecurity excellence for Tauranga Moana and beyond.

Be part of it. There are many ways to get involved with TMBC, whether that's staying informed, joining our network as a member, or helping fund the mahi. Every connection strengthens the kaupapa.

Upcoming Events

Connect with like-minded biosecurity doers in our community at TMBC events.

Throughout the year, TMBC brings people together under a shared purpose, protecting our region from unwanted pests and pathogens. Our events are designed to educate, inspire and spark action. We run six Connect & Protect events across the year, offered as a mix of online and in-person. We also host a flagship event, the Biosecurity Symposium, which is a full day packed with leading experts, emerging innovations, and stories from those on the ground doing the work.

Check out our events page to see what's coming up.

Our Four Pou

TMBC is guided by four pou that focus our efforts on protecting our environment, empowering our community, and strengthening biosecurity across Tauranga Moana.
