Weed Warriors wanted to help stop the spread of Woolly nightshade
Bay of Plenty Regional Council are calling on local residents to become weed warriors by pulling out or spraying any Woolly nightshade plants that they have on their property.
A native of South America, this pesky weed particularly flourishes in coastal regions like ours. Woolly nightshade flowers and fruits all year round meaning one plant can very quickly become a problem, particularly as seeds can be spread over huge distances by birds. Unfortunately it can be toxic to humans and animals – causing skin, eye, nose and throat irritation.
