New ‘Biosecurity Hub’ in the early stages of development
New Zealand’s Biological Heritage National Science Challenge, of which TMBC is a flagship, has recently kicked off funding for seven new research projects. One of these investments aims to develop a ‘virtual biosecurity hub’ for Aotearoa. The Hub will be a framework, supported by stakeholders, to identify and triage a flow of new advanced tools, strategies and ideas to provide better biosecurity. A key feature of the hub will be the ability to co-design with mana whenua and ensure consideration and incorporation of Te Ao Māori.
The hub will align investment not only from the Challenge itself but also other interested investors who need a development pipeline that efficiently identifies tools for investment and strategies that strengthen biosecurity.
The Challenge is keen to work with TMBC to test this concept throughout development, as the leading network collaborating towards biosecurity excellence. If you’re working on biosecurity ideas and projects or are interested in being part of the ‘test group’, please contact Diane.
